Chapter 3
 

((I base this, and all my stories to come, on my own Breath of Fire
universe. In my universe, Teepo escaped with Ryu and the gang, and Garr
never died with the Goddess. The current status of my characters roles are
as follows: Ryu-17 years old, and in love with Nina. Nina-16, is also in
love with Ryu, both are engaged to marry when Nina comes of age. Teepo-17,
has become a full fledged theif. Rei-23, has quit being a theif, and only
steals when he needs to. Momo-21, has strong emotional feelings for Rei, and
she slso works at the rebuilt Plant. Peco has been reborn, and has become
the "pet" and Garr lives back at Urkan Tapa. Momo, Rei, Ryu, Nina, Peco, and
Teepo live together in a small country house, around the East Wyndia area.

This and others will also contain profanity, and possibly mature
situations, so if you take offense to such, don't read these.

Also, this is my first fan-fic, so if it sucks, bear with me. Thank
you))

(NOTE: When I use a tilde ( ~ ) that means that the person is talking to
them self in their mind.)
 
 

A bright Sunday morning, birds chirping, a breeze blowing, sun
shining..... and a young purple haired boy on the run after an early morning
pilfer.

"Heh, you'll never catch me!"

Two angry farmers have been chasing him most of the morning, after he
stole some of the grain from this seasons harvest at the plant.

"You little bastard! I'll rip your damn hair out!"

"C'mon, you can do better than that, can'tcha?"

After a long chase, consisting most of the morning, the two farmers
stop out of exhaustion, and make their way back to their farms. After a few
minutes, Teepo looks back to see his pursuers to have given up the chase.

"All right! I can't remember the last time I---"

Is abruptly stopped and knocked onto his back after running into an
angry Momo.

"Teepo," The tone of her voice is a polite one,
one that begins to worry Teepo. "what's in the sack?

"Er... grain. Uh, grain I bought with my own money, yeah, that's it."
Is quite proud of himself.

"Really now. I guess those two men were just chasing you for their own
good, hmm?" Her tone goes from polite to aggrivated.

"Look here you little theif, I work at the place you got that from, so
you're not just stealing from them, you're also stealing from me, you got
it?! Now get up, we're gonna take it back."

Meanwhile, Rei watches on from a nearby tree, trying his hardest not
to laugh.

"He got caught. The little turd got caught...."

Momo turns her head halfway towards the tree, and smirks. "You wanna
come, tiger-boy?" Awaiting Rei's surprise, with a sly grin.

"How did ya know I was up 'ere?" Leaps down from the tree, next to
Teepo. "So, ya got caught, huh? Why didn't you ask me? I coulda stole it for
ya, and not have got caught."

This obviously doesn't set well with her, and she slaps him in the
back of his head, and glares at him, sarcasm filling her voice.

"Gee, I wonder where he get's his butt-brained idea's from, huh?"

Rei smiles, and accepts that as if it were a prestigeous title. "From
the master butt-brain himself."

That sparks an applause from Teepo, and another slap to the back of
the head from Momo. "He must get all his stupidity from you."

"Don't look at me."

She shakes her head, and looks away. "I don't even know why I bother
sometimes."

She looks back to Rei, to find him not there. She looks down and sighs
some, Teepo beginning to wonder what that was all about.

"Yo, you a'right? You were lookin' kinda weird there."

Momo blushes a bit. "Oh, yeah. I'm fine. It's nothing really."

"Oh c'mon it's more than obvious."

"What?! What do you know?" She loosens her grip on him, and Teepo uses
the distraction to get away.

"You little jerk, what do you know?"

"Nothing, I just said that to get away."

Laughs as he makes his escape. Momo shakes her head, picks up the
sack, looks back once more.

"Rei......" She then slowly makes her way for the farm at the plant.
 
 

After a half hour, she arrives. She worked up quite a sweat, and
rested at the inn till she cooled off.

"Teepo ran from here?" Sighs, and gets up, and lugs the sack the
storage room. As she makes her way out, she runs into one of the farmers who
Teepo stole from.

"Oh, hi Momo. What'cha doin' here today? Isn't this your day off?"
Wipes the sweat from his forehead.

"Oh no, I'm just returning the grain Teepo stole. I caught him, but he
got away from me."

"Oh, don't worry about it." A pause. "Uh, Momo. I get off early today.
Would you like to go out for dinner tonight?"

She smiles, and shakes her head. "C'mon, you know my policy. Sorry."

"Hey, can't blame a guy for trying. I'll see you later." Waves and
goes back to his field.

She waves and sighs as she walks off. "No, you can't blame a man for
trying. But you can for not trying."
 

The walk back home was nothing compared to the walk there. Of course,
she wasn't carrying and twenty five pound bag of grain. As she approached
the house, she began to hear splashing, and laughing. She peeked around a
nearby tree to see Rei and Teepo in the pond wrestling each other. She dared
not get caught snooping, for she knows what will happen if she does.

"Hey, let me go!" Rei is holding Teepo over his head, and throws him
into the water. Teepo then dives under, and pulls Rei underneath. All this
strikes a chuckle from Momo, and she uses this to scurry in the house before
she's seen.

Rei then pops out of the water, and turns and sees Momo. "Intruder,
intruder. Must capture." Momo screams with a laugh and runs in the house,
Rei not far behind. As soon as Rei opens the door, he is face to face with
Nina.

"Rei, when you dry off, then you can come in."

"Aw, I'll be real quick."

"When you dry off, then you can come in. Not till then." Ryu begins to
chuckle.

"Fine. You and Ryu wanna come out, mess around in the water?"

Nina walks back to Ryu, lays in his arms. "No, I think we're fine
here." Ryu smiles, and kisses her cheek, Nina's wings flutter a bit.

"Sorry man. You understand right?"

Laughs sarcastically, and goes back to the pond, and tackles Teepo as
he jumps in. Momo then peeks out of her room, and sighs then takes a seat on
the couch.

"Thanks for helping me out there Nina."

Suddenly a crash is heard, and Peco hops out being chased by Honey....
again.

"Pukyi!!!" Peco and Honey both look as if they are enjoying
themselves.

Momo smiles. "C'mere Honey." She's quick to follow her instruction,
and hops into her hands, Peco sitting to rest.

Ryu looks to Peco then Honey. "Call me stupid, but I do believe Peco
and Honey.... like each other."

"Yeah." Momo then begins to think about the subject of 'together'.

She looks to Ryu and Nina ~Nina and Ryu, they're so happy together.
It's like they were meant for each other.~

She then looks between Peco and Honey. ~Even Peco has someone who
cares for him.~

She then looks out to Rei. ~If you only know what you mean to me.~ She
then looks out to Rei again, smirks the goes to her room. After a few
minutes she comes out in a bathing suit, nothing fancy or revealing, and
goes out to the pond.

"Hi boys. Mind if I join you?" She's smiling larger than she's ever
smiled before.

Rei gets out of the water. "Sure thing." He grabs onto her, and jumps
back into the water, such an action starting her, and she holds onto Rei,
more than neccesarry, enjoying the feeling of being close to him, even if
it's only for a moment.

"That was uncalled for Rei, but..." She undoes her braids, and lets
her long orange hair flow freely in the water. "I forgive you." Laughs and
dunks Teepo's head underwater, and goes after Rei, but he pulls her under
before she can. Then it becomes a two on one, Rei and Momo against Teepo.

"Hey, c'mon, not fair, not fair!" Still, the three of them lauging,
and having a great time.

Even though Momo is the smartest and most mature of the three, not
even she can resist a good time to fool around and act like a little kid,
especially with Rei.
 

After most of the day, the three of them were able to convince Ryu,
Nina, Honey and Peco to come outside, if not to swim, just to lounge. Ryu
and Nina lying in the sun, having never got in the water, and never been
apart the whole time. Peco was outside, asleep as always under a nearby
tree, and Honey sitting with him. Rei, Momo and Teepo exhausted themselves,
and are also lying under the sun, lounging.

Momo, sighing with contently, lying on her belly, eyes closed. "I
haven't had that much fun in a long time Rei."

Rei still shaking himself dry. "See, even you like to have fun with
the tiger-boy."

Teepo butts in. "And the little theif. I'm gonna kick your ass next
time Rei."

"Oh, you are, are ya? How about I throw you back in the water, yeah?"

"Don't even try it. I just got dry." Stands ready to defend himself.

Rei stands, and slowly closes in on Teepo. Momo sits up, and watches,
smiling at Rei. She then looks to the water, and stares at the clear blue
water of the pond, wind causing rippling waves to lightly lap up on the
shore. Then she looks back to Rei, the pond, and Rei again. ~Okay girl....
I'm gonna do it.~

Teepo and Rei wrestle around, Teepo trying not to get thrown in. Momo
stands, and slowly approaches them, and tackles both of them from behind all
three falling back into the pond.

Rei and Teepo surface, Teepo is considerably upset. "Dammit! Well, you
got me again, so now I'm gonna get you back twice as bad."

Rei, not even listening to him, is looking around. Momo hadn't
surfaced yet, and Rei began to worry.

"Where's Momo? She hasn't come up yet, has she?"

Ryu and Nina sit up and look on, concern filling their faces and
minds. Rei, not wanting to wait any longer, dives down deep seeing her
blurred figure in the depths of the water. She isn't moving, and floating
lifelessly. Rei grabs ahold of her, and shoots up to the surface, and lays
her on shore.

"Momo.... MOMO!! Ryu, don'tcha got any healing... anything?"

"I can't do anything! How do you heal a drown victim?"

Rei tries his best to regain his composure. "Wait... uh, what's that
thing.... RPC?"

Nina comments, "CPR you mean? Here let me try." Nina moves into
position.

Rei moves her away. "No your lungs aren't big enough to get a good
breath in." Takes a deep breath, tilts her head back and pinches her nose.

~Oh Rei.....~

He brings his lips to hers, and blows, her chest rises and falls. He
blows again, and again. Nothing.

~Rei... I'm so sorry I have to do it like this.~

He brings his lips to hers again, and blows, nothing. He takes an
extremely large breath, and blows again. Nothing. Now, everyone has feared
for the worst.

"Dammit Momo, don't do this. Don't do this to us. Don't do this to
me!" He blows again and.... Momo wraps her arms around his neck tightly, and
kisses him long and deep. Rei's eyes shoot wide open, and just stays there,
not even believing what's happening.

"Wha...?" Ryu and Nina say in unison.

"She faked it." Ryu looks to Nina, her being completly speechless.

After about 10 seconds she breaks the kiss, a content look in her
face, her eyes shimmering.... however, Rei is pissed off beyond belief.
"What the hell were you thinking?! You scared me half to death! I thought
you were...." Out of sheer anger and disgust gets up and storms off, cursing
as he left. Ryu, Nina, and Teepo all looked at Momo, then Rei as he left.
Momo's eyes now shimmered with a different look, the look of tears and a
heart breaking.

"Rei.... I'm sorry..." She completly breaks down, and cries, and runs
inside, slamming to door to her room, and locking the door. She flops down
on her bed sobbing, her face buried in her pillow, still dripping wet from
the pond. "Rei...." She sobs louder, her tears treking down her face,
thinking of the love, she may have now lost forever.
